Ian Kearney PGA appointed as Head Golf Professional

Dromoland Castle Golf Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Head Golf Pro, Ian Kearney. Ian will be joining the 5 Star team at the impressive Dromoland Castle Golf and Country Club in Co. Clare.

With an outstanding golf career behind him, Ian is the latest addition to an already prominent and loyal golf team at Dromoland Castle Golf and Country Club.

Speaking about embarking on his new role, Ian Kearney said; “I have been looking for an opportunity to work within a team dedicated to excellence and I am understandably thrilled to be joining the Internationally renowned, prestigious and much-loved Dromoland.”

Ian is a PGA qualified golf coach and has been awarded the prestigious PGA Irish Trainee of the Year on two occasions while completing his training at Doonbeg Golf Club in Co. Clare.

Since turning professional, Ian has spent almost two years working with Taylormade Adidas Golf at their global headquarters in Germany. During this time, he also provided support to Taylormade Staff professionals including the world number one at the time, Martin Kaymer.

Ian has worked in Trump International Golf Links Doonbeg since 2011 and completed his Masters degree in Sports Coaching at the renowned Loughborough University specialising in instruction and coaching philosophy. He is the current Golfing Union of Ireland Under 16’s National Coach and Lead Connacht Coach, of which Connacht Juniors have won five national championships in the past twelve months.

Ian is excited to bring his knowledge and experience in coaching players of all levels to Dromoland Castle Golf and Country Club and looks forward to getting to know the members and guests over the coming season.

Dromoland Castle is Ireland’s Best Golf Hotel at the World Golf Awards

Dromoland Castle has been named ‘Ireland’s Best Golf Hotel 2018’ at the 5th annual World Golf Awards. The prestigious award ceremony took place in La Manga Club, Spain on Thursday, 1st until Sunday, 4th November, hosted by sports presenters, Steve Rider and Ela Clark.

The annual World Golf Awards serve to celebrate and reward excellence in golf tourism, world-class courses and golf destinations. Launched in 2014, the World Golf Awards aim to drive up standards within the golf tourism industry by rewarding the organisations that are leaders in their field. Votes are made by professionals working within the golf travel and tourism industry.

Designed by internationally renowned Ron Kirby and JB Carr, Dromoland Castle Golf Club is set on the 450-acre estate of Dromoland Castle. The impressive parkland course combines gentle hills, ancient trees and unexpected water hazards to deliver a demanding and exhilarating course, presenting an enjoyable challenge to both amateurs and professionals.
